Learning Together, Inspired Forever

Enterprising, Creative Enthusiasts

Meet the team

Objectives Autumn term 2024:

  • To develop our school learning powers- mascots

  • Assemblies to teach the children about the learning powers

  • Start Young Bronze Sports Ambassadors scheme

  • To oversee Children In Need fundraising

  • Organise Christmas class colour hamper raffle.

  • Raise money for the Dolpa Orphanage on Christmas Jumper Day

We met several times over the Autumn term to streamline the learning powers and choose those that we thought were the most important. After deciding on our learning powers we then had to design a mascot for them. We loved a superhero theme to link in with the word POWER. However, we needed to change our Attendance Hero mascots so people did not get confused. Mrs Martin held a competition for a new attendance mascot and we were able to finalise our superhero designs with logos!

We have had a series of assemblies explaining the learning power of perseverance. We will be introducing the other powers in the coming weeks.

We have also been busy organising and promoting our Children in Need fundraising in which we raised £367. We also held a Christmas Jumper day that raised £70 for our friends at the Dolpa Orphange in Nepal.

Meet our new Bronze Young Sports Ambassadors

These y5 & 6 children volunteered to lead this initiative in September then attended training in the LC2 later in the term. They also lead our Autumn term fundraising initiative - 'Beatball' in partnership with Nicky from Football First Wales. All children, from Nursery to Year 6, had a fun beatball session (football skills to music) then a follow up fundraising day where the children took part in a 'Penalty Shot' competition. The radar recorded the speed of their shots and every class celebrated with a certificate for everyone and 2 class winners. We raised over £2000!! What an achievement by the Sports Ambassadors!

Spring term update

We met over the Spring term to introduce the learning powers with the rest of the school. Miss Hope and Mrs Roseblade held seven assemblies to explain the learning powers so we could all understand. We put mystery posters around the school of the mascots which meant lots of people (including teachers) were curious as to what they were. This got everyone very interested in the mascots.

Every class has been given a copy of a learning powers poster to use everyday in their learning.  Our lovely friends at Whizzknits are making a set of mascots for every class! We have sent them a thank you card for their kindness.

As part of our Reading Week celebrations, we held a preloved book fair after school. We made posters and collected donated books. Mrs Rees helped us to sort all of the books out into different categories. ER and C helped to sell the books at the end of the day. Lots of lovely books were bought and swapped for free. We raised £55 for our friends at the Dolpa Orphanage in Nepal.

We have 4 new sports ambassadors-H, R, S and I who are helping the year 1&2 children keep active and have fun at lunchtimes daily.  Our 5&6 ambassadors ActiveCrew after school club for year 2 children for the summer
