Meet Our Reception/Year 1 Team 

🌱 Summer Term Topic Overview🌱

This Summer Term, we will be exploring the exciting world of growing things, with a special focus on vegetables and plants.

Our learning will begin with a mysterious discovery… a bag full of beans and seeds! They have no labels and all look different. What could they be? This mystery will lead us on a hands-on journey where we become gardeners, scientists, and explorers.

We will investigate:

• What plants need to grow and stay healthy
• Whether all seeds grow in the same way
• How plants change over time
• Which plants grow tall, fast, or produce vegetables we can eat.

Through planting, caring for, and observing our own vegetables and plants, we will learn how important growing things are for people, animals, and minibeasts. We will think about where our food comes from and how plants help our world.

🌼Enterprise Challenge🌼

Can our growing skills help our school community?
We will work together to explore ways we might use what we grow to raise money for our school or improve our school garden, making it an even more exciting place to learn, explore, and enjoy nature.

🌿the environment—while getting our hands a little muddy and having lots of 🌿
