Free School Meals and Uniform Grant
As you might be aware from September 2022 all pupils in Reception classes will be receiving a universal free school meal, however the School Uniform Grant is only available for children who are currently entitled to free school meals, therefore if you haven’t already applied you need to do so. Pupils who receive free school meals due to transitional protection arrangements do not qualify for this funding.
This grant applies to the following year groups:
- Reception to Year 11.
- Looked After Children (LAC), who attend a Swansea school.
Funding available is £225 for each eligible learner with the exception of those in Year 7, who will be entitled to £300.

The grant should be spent on:
- School uniform including coats and shoes;
- School sports kits including footwear;
- IT equipment: laptop and tablets ONLY
- Uniform for enrichment activities, including but not limited to, scouts; guides; cadets;
martial arts; sports; performing arts or dance;
- Equipment, for example, school bags and stationery;
- Specialist equipment where new curriculum activities begin such as design and
technology;
- Equipment for out of school hours trips, such as outdoor learning, for example,
waterproofs.
Applications can be made from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 and take up to 7 days to process.

Please note that if your child is eligible for free school meals (not ‘transitionally protected’) there will also be a reduction in some school trips such as residential stays.

We have been asked by Bergoni (our uniform supplier) to remind you to order your school uniform for September early and not leave it until the last minute. This year they have encountered delays with deliveries and this could have a knock on effect in August.
They will also be continuing to do fitting appointments which are already filling up, where a parent can book a time slot for the fitting room skip the queue and purchase or order uniform on the day. Follow @bergoniemb on face book for important messages through the coming months.
Also for next year's Year 6 pupils, the 'Leavers Hoodies' are now available to order online or in store ready for them to wear in September.
