Learning Together, Inspired Forever

Year 3/4 Mars

Mr Cole’s Hwb emailcolem27@hwbcymru.net

Daily Routines:

Our school gates will be open from 8:40 for you to drop off your child and staff will guide them through entrance points to the school yard where they will be supervised by staff until the bell rings at 8:50.

Our class will enter the school via the Red Lion Gate. Our school day finishes at 3:10 and children will be brought back to the Red Lion car park.

We advise that children are provided with a water bottle to bring to school and a healthy snack to eat during their morning playtime. Alternatively, fruit can be purchased in school at 25p per piece of fruit.

Homework

English homework will be set every Monday and Maths homework will be set on Friday.  There will be a spelling test on Friday.  Homework is to be handed in by Friday.

In addition to set homework tasks, we encourage children to read at home often, including their reading book and target key words, accessing Bug Club and Maths games through Active Learn and J2E, and to be practicing their times tables.

Thank you for your continued support. If there is anything else you would like to see or access via our class page that would help you or your child at home, then please let us know.

Diolch,

Mr Cole

Watch Newsround

Practise cursive handwriting

Our first amazing author is Julia Donaldson.  She has written many amazing books.  We are starting with Zog.  You can watch Zog on the BBC iplayer or go to flipgrid to see it being read.

Make a list of the rhyming words in the story. Write them cursively.

Write a set of instructions to teach a young dragon how to fly like Zog. Remember to use time connectives – first, next, then etc . Remember to use cursive handwriting and correct punctuation.

The two human characters become Doctors.  Can you plan some questions for an interview with a real doctor?  What is their role?  What is a typical day like?
Log onto hwb and go to J2E, my files and shared files.  You will see a folder called year 3 and 4 maths.  Choose 5 pages of work to do – try to choose one from each section – one addition, one subtraction and so on.  Challenge yourselves and see what you can do.

Make a poster to teach the dragons about fire safety or first aid skills

Investigate which materials would be suitable for Sir Gadabout’s armour.  Which materials are the strongest?

Princess Pearl doesn’t like silly frilly dresses.  Can you design some new clothes that she may like?

Can you draw/paint a dragon of your own design?

Retell the story as a comic strip/storyboard.

Draw a map showing Zog’s route to school.
